Known as “Hortus Europae”, the Baldo conserves many species of plants and flowers that have disppeared in the other areas.So you can find many botanical endemic soecies called “Baldensis”,as they are typical of this area.But there are also many other species: officinal, medical, aromatic…all characteristic of the alpine zone.
Baldo has a rich micro-fauna,some of which are unique to this area,whileas you may encounter numerous other “superior” fauna such as: the white partridge, grouse, rock whistler, regal eagle, chamois,deer,squirrels,hares,foxes,weasels,dormouse,badgers and even bears that have been recently reintroduced. Birds of prey are quite common:eagles,kite birds,kestrels,goshawks, buzzards,and reptiles such as snakes.

In summer there is a shuttle-bus service,that takes you to the highest part of the mountains. From here numerous hikes and excursions can be made,there is also a chair-lift (4 places) called Prà Alpesina:Try it!
